About the role
The Project Controls Director will establish and lead an integrated project controls function across Dangote Construction’s EPC and construction portfolio. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will provide accurate, timely insights that drive strategic decisions and ensure project performance aligns with corporate objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Govern the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) for all projects, including critical‑path analysis, look‑ahead planning and recovery plan validation.
- Lead enterprise‑wide cost control: budget management, cash‑flow forecasting, cost‑to‑complete and Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Standardise progress measurement across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and hand‑over phases.
- Develop and maintain portfolio‑level dashboards, KPIs and executive performance reports.
- Prepare CEO and Board review packs, translating complex data into clear risk, trend and decision recommendations.
- Own risk registers, issue logs, change control and trend management to enable early mitigation.
- Collaborate with Commercial and Contracts teams on early‑warning notices, claims evaluation and contractual defence.
- Provide independent challenge to project teams and contractors on progress claims, forecasts and cost assumptions.
- Establish project‑controls standards, methodologies and governance frameworks across the organisation.
- Build and lead a high‑performing project‑controls capability across the portfolio.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Project Management, Finance or related field (HND acceptable with extensive experience).
- Professional certification preferred (AACE CCP/CEP/EVP/PSP, PMI‑SP, PMI‑RMP, PMP, PRINCE2).
- Minimum 18 years of project‑controls experience in EPC, EPCM, PMC or large‑scale construction programmes.
- At least 8 years leading project‑controls teams in a multi‑project environment.
Required skills
- Advanced competency in Primavera P6 (mandatory).
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills (mandatory).
- Power BI or equivalent dashboarding capability (strongly preferred).
- Proficiency in Earned Value Management (EVM) and cost forecasting.
