About the role
Jhpiego is seeking a highly motivated Program Officer to lead the implementation of a catalytic maternal health initiative in Kebbi State, Nigeria. The role focuses on accelerating the statewide scale‑up of evidence‑based postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) prevention, detection, and treatment interventions.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate day‑to‑day implementation of maternal and newborn health activities related to PPH scale‑up across 225 primary health care facilities and selected hospitals.
- Support operational rollout of the WHO‑recommended E‑MOTIVE care bundle, including heat‑stable carbetocin, calibrated obstetric drapes, and tranexamic acid.
- Translate approved implementation strategies into actionable field‑level activities with clear timelines and deliverables.
- Facilitate alignment and execution across national, state, LGA, facility, and partner structures.
- Identify implementation gaps and propose program refinements.
- Prepare, implement, and track detailed work plans, activity schedules, procurement plans, and budgets.
- Monitor progress against milestones and address operational bottlenecks.
- Coordinate capacity‑building activities such as trainings, mentoring, supportive supervision, peer learning exchanges, webinars, and technical learning sessions.
- Assist technical teams in developing implementation tools, job aids, SOPs, and learning resources.
- Liaise with the Federal Ministry of Health, Kebbi State Ministry of Health, primary health care agencies, professional associations, implementing partners, and donors.
Required profile
- Relevant experience in program coordination or project management within maternal and newborn health.
- Knowledge of postpartum haemorrhage prevention and treatment interventions, especially the E‑MOTIVE approach.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with government ministries, health agencies, and international partners.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to monitor performance and address implementation challenges.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
