Production Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a Production Assistant to support the manufacturing of leather bags at our Lagos facility. The role involves assisting with material preparation, sewing, assembly, and quality control under the supervision of the Production Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and cutting leather, lining, foam, and fabric according to approved designs.
• Support the production team in sewing, stitching, gluing, and assembling bag components.
• Operate industrial sewing machines when trained and authorized.
• Install zippers, buckles, handles, straps, rivets, and other hardware under supervision.
• Inspect materials and finished products for defects and help correct minor issues.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage of tools and materials.
• Help monitor material usage to minimize waste and report any shortages.
• Assist in packaging, labeling, and preparing completed bags for delivery.
• Follow production schedules and contribute to meeting daily and weekly targets.
• Perform other production‑related duties as assigned by the Production Manager.

Required profile

• Minimum education of SSCE/WAEC, OND, or equivalent.
• Previous experience in bag making, leatherwork, tailoring, or related manufacturing is an advantage.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow patterns accurately.
• Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn new production techniques.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Ability to work for extended periods in a production environment.

Required skills

• Operation of industrial sewing machines.
• Use of cylinder‑bed industrial sewing machines under supervision.
• Basic handling of sewing and cutting tools for leather goods.
