International Data Consultant – UNICEF (Remote, Abuja)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking an International Data Consultant to support the Nigerian Ministry of Education in mainstreaming the Education Management Information System (EMIS). The role is remote‑based with regular visits to Abuja over a 12‑month contract, focusing on strengthening data collection, management, analysis and use for education reform.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Ministry in operationalising EMIS across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
• Support the launch and maintenance of EMIS modules, including annual school census, safe school, and student registry.
• Facilitate data quality assurance, analysis and reporting to inform policy and programme decisions.
• Provide technical guidance on the DHIS2 platform and ensure its effective integration with national education data initiatives.
• Coordinate regular field visits to monitor implementation progress and provide on‑site support.

Required profile

• Proven experience in education data systems or large‑scale data management projects.
• Familiarity with government‑led data initiatives and stakeholder coordination.
• Ability to work remotely while travelling periodically to Nigeria.
• Strong analytical mindset and capacity to translate data into actionable insights.
