Head of Operations – Oil & Gas Industry

About the role

The Head of Operations will lead operational excellence for a leading oil & gas company in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. This senior position is responsible for driving efficiency, ensuring HSE compliance, and supporting the company’s growth in a competitive energy market.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with business goals.
• Oversee daily operational activities, production support, logistics, and project execution.
• Monitor KPIs, drive cost‑optimization initiatives and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations, HSE standards, and corporate policies.
• Manage budgets, resource allocation, and operational expenditures.
• Lead risk assessments, mitigation plans, and operational policy development.
• Collaborate with engineering, finance, supply chain, and business development teams.
• Build, mentor, and lead high‑performing operational teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, Petroleum Engineering or related field; MBA is a plus.
• Minimum 10 years of operational experience in oil & gas, with at least 5 years in senior leadership.
• Strong understanding of upstream, midstream or downstream operations.
• Proven ability to manage large‑scale, multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent financial and commercial acumen.
• Effective leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
