Head of Growth & Operations – Road Freight

About the role

We are looking for a senior leader to drive growth and oversee all road freight operations for DHL Global Forwarding in Nigeria. The role combines full P&L responsibility with strategic development of the road freight business across key sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Take full ownership of road freight activities in Nigeria, managing revenue, gross profit, cost control and EBITDA.
• Develop and execute growth plans, identify new opportunities in oil & gas, FMCG, automotive, industrial, mining and project logistics.
• Lead commercial governance including pricing, tender participation, contract negotiations and margin optimisation.
• Oversee domestic and cross‑border road freight operations, ensuring high OTIF performance and transit time reliability.
• Design and optimise transport networks and regional ECOWAS trade lanes.
• Monitor KPIs, drive continuous improvement in fleet utilisation, subcontractor performance and service quality.
• Lead digitalisation projects such as TMS optimisation, track‑and‑trace visibility and reporting automation.
• Ensure compliance with HSSEQ policies, Nigerian transport regulations and security protocols.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in road freight or logistics with full P&L accountability.
• Strong commercial acumen and track record of growing revenue in multiple industry sectors.
• Ability to manage complex operational networks and lead cross‑functional teams.
• Deep understanding of Nigerian transport regulations and cross‑border trade.
