Civil Engineer Assistant

About the role

This position supports the Lead Engineer on construction sites, supervising daily activities and ensuring work aligns with drawings, specifications, and approved method statements. It is ideal for final‑year civil or structural engineering students, recent graduates, or NYSC corps members seeking hands‑on experience in the real‑estate sector.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily site activity and confirm work matches drawings, specifications, and approved method statements.
• Track progress against the programme and flag errors.
• Monitor materials on delivery and in use – quantities, quality, and storage.
• Produce daily site reports and a consolidated weekly summary for the Lead Engineer.
• Log site instructions, variations, delays, and safety observations.
• Act as the day‑to‑day link between site personnel and the Lead Engineer, escalating issues beyond authority.
• Support basic structural checks and drawing interpretation as directed.

Required profile

• Final‑year civil or structural engineering student, recent graduate, or NYSC corps member.
• Strong understanding of structural fundamentals such as loads, reinforcement detailing, and concrete and steel behaviour.
• Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings.
