Wellsite Geologist – Offshore Drilling Specialist

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Wellsite Geologist to lead complex offshore drilling operations in Lagos. You will be responsible for real‑time geological interpretation, pressure monitoring and ensuring safe, accurate wellbore placement in challenging subsurface environments.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret complex geological data and conduct abnormal pressure surveillance to guide wellbore placement.
• Generate and analyse formation evaluation logs, integrating results into real‑time decision making.
• Oversee mud logging, LWD, wireline services, coring programs and BHA configurations to maximise drilling efficiency.
• Direct onsite geotechnical operations and manage third‑party vendor performance to meet safety and technical specifications.
• Lead and mentor junior geologists, fostering knowledge transfer and operational excellence.
• Collaborate with integrated asset teams to align directional drilling objectives with reservoir goals.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience as a Wellsite Geologist, preferably in offshore and highly deviated wells.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology from an accredited institution.
• Current OPITO HUET, Sea Survival and H2S certifications.
• Fluent professional English with strong organisational abilities.
