Team Leader – Transport Governance & Coordination Expert

About the role

GIZ International Services is seeking a Team Leader to drive the EU‑funded Technical Assistance project for ECOWAS transport governance in West Africa. Based in Abuja, Nigeria, you will lead efforts to develop sustainable, smart, resilient and safe mobility across land, air and water transport sectors within the ECOWAS region.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage the implementation of transport governance activities under the EU tender.
• Support the strengthening of regulatory frameworks for land, aviation and maritime transport.
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement with ECOWAS institutions, national authorities and private sector partners.
• Oversee data collection, analysis and reporting to ensure project objectives are met.
• Provide technical guidance and capacity‑building workshops for regional transport officials.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in transport engineering, public policy, international development or a related field.
• Proven experience in leading transport governance or regulatory projects, preferably in an international context.
• Strong understanding of land, air and maritime transport systems and regulatory environments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of French is an advantage.
