Tax Manager

About the role

Dangote Cement is looking for a Tax Manager to develop and implement strategies that help the company comply with tax legislation. The role covers tax preparation, planning, audits and advisory support for the tax team.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and file federal and state tax returns accurately and on time.
• Develop and implement tax planning strategies that optimise the organisation's tax position while staying compliant.
• Identify tax issues and develop solutions; review tax computations, returns and payments.
• Coordinate and manage tax audits, investigations and assessments by tax authorities, and respond to tax queries and objections.
• Oversee tax accounting and reporting in line with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Carry out periodic tax health checks and ensure controls are in place to mitigate tax risks.
• Monitor changes in tax legislation and advise management on their impact.
• Review contracts and business transactions for tax implications and recommend tax-efficient structures.
• Assess related party transactions against transfer pricing regulations, tax laws and company policies.
• Advise, train and guide internal stakeholders on tax compliance, and supervise the tax team so returns are completed correctly.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting or a related discipline.
• Relevant professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, etc.
• At least 10 years of relevant work experience.
• Proven experience as a tax manager or in a similar role.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of tax legislation, especially corporate taxation, indirect taxation, transfer pricing and tax administration.
• Ability to manage tax audits and regulatory engagements.
• Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
