Senior Accountant – Finance Operations

About the role

FairMoney is building the leading mobile bank for emerging markets. The Finance department in Lagos is looking for a senior accountant to drive monthly reporting, taxation, cash planning and year‑end close activities.

Key responsibilities

• Post journal entries, reconcile the general ledger and prepare schedules supporting financial statements.
• Investigate and explain variances in monthly management reports.
• Ensure PAYE, pension, WHT and VAT are correctly deducted, remitted and filed on time.
• Carry out cash planning, monitor expenses and transfer excess cash to the Treasurer for investment.
• Support year‑end close and coordinate the annual statutory audit.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in audit or financial services.
• Professional accounting certification (ACCA or ICAN).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Effective team player with a positive attitude and ability to work with little supervision.
