About the role
FairMoney is building the leading mobile bank for emerging markets. The Finance department in Lagos is looking for a senior accountant to drive monthly reporting, taxation, cash planning and year‑end close activities.
Key responsibilities
- Post journal entries, reconcile the general ledger and prepare schedules supporting financial statements.
- Investigate and explain variances in monthly management reports.
- Ensure PAYE, pension, WHT and VAT are correctly deducted, remitted and filed on time.
- Carry out cash planning, monitor expenses and transfer excess cash to the Treasurer for investment.
- Support year‑end close and coordinate the annual statutory audit.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in audit or financial services.
- Professional accounting certification (ACCA or ICAN).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Effective team player with a positive attitude and ability to work with little supervision.
