Real Estate Lawyer

About the role

A full-time Real Estate Lawyer position based in Lagos, focused on monitoring legal risk in real estate documentation, advising clients and handling the legal side of property transactions and a large-scale real estate portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor legal risk in real estate documentation and advise clients accordingly.
• Draft and negotiate real estate transactions, and draft routine leases and amendments.
• Ensure appropriate approvals are in place before executing transactions.
• Manage regulatory and compliance-related services.
• Represent the company in purchases and sales of properties and defend municipal code litigation.
• Support legal and general advisory needs for a large-scale real estate portfolio.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Law (essential).
• Admitted as a notary public (essential).
• Strong experience in real estate law, including litigation, lease transactions, property management and purchase and sale transactions.
• Solid experience in title insurance underwriting, curative and claims.
• Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and research skills, natural leader with sound judgment and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines; capable network with good interpersonal, communication and public speaking skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
