About the role

The Mortuary Attendant Supervisor will lead daily mortuary operations, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and ethical standards while providing respectful care for deceased individuals and support for their families.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate mortuary attendants, manage schedules and ensure coverage for all shifts.
• Oversee intake, storage, identification, and release of deceased individuals, maintaining accurate documentation.
• Ensure mortuary cleanliness, equipment functionality, and proper inventory of supplies.
• Implement and monitor health, safety, and compliance procedures, including biohazard waste disposal and regular audits.
• Serve as primary contact for families, arranging viewings and supporting grieving relatives with empathy.
• Provide training, mentorship, and performance evaluations for staff, fostering professional growth.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and relevant professional certifications.
• Minimum three years of experience supervising mortuary attendants and managing daily mortuary operations.
• Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations governing mortuary practices.
• Demonstrated leadership, problem‑solving, and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Mortuary science principles, including embalming and restoration of remains.
• Understanding of human anatomy and physiology.
• Infection control and safe use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Biohazard waste disposal and equipment sterilization.
• Compliance with legal and ethical standards for handling human remains.
