Mechanical Field Technician

About the role

The Mechanical Field Technician will provide on‑site maintenance, diagnostics and support for Material Handling Equipment (MHE) used in warehouses and industrial settings. You will work directly with clients to ensure equipment reliability and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on diesel engines, transmissions, drive axles, brake systems, mast and lift assemblies, and hydraulic components.
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems, including pumps, cylinders, valves and hoses.
• Carry out full engine overhauls – dismantling, rebuilding and re‑assembly of pistons, crankshafts, injection systems and turbochargers.
• Interpret mechanical and hydraulic schematics, OEM manuals and technical documentation.
• Install and commission new or refurbished equipment and conduct inspections on client Hyster machines.
• Provide technical support to clients on‑site or remotely, offering troubleshooting advice.
• Complete maintenance reports, fault histories, parts‑replacement records and work orders accurately.
• Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and OH&S safety procedures at all times.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in MHE maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair.
• Proven ability to work on diesel, LPG and petrol engines used in warehouse equipment and heavy‑duty trucks.
• Experience with forklifts, reach stackers, empty container handlers, VNA trucks and general warehouse machinery.
• Hands‑on experience with hydraulic systems, transmissions and drivetrain components.
• Hyster OEM training or certification is an advantage.
