Librarian

About the role

The Librarian will manage the firm’s legal information resources, ensuring that lawyers and staff have seamless access to statutes, case law, journals, and research tools. This role requires a detail‑oriented professional who can maintain both physical and digital collections while supporting the firm’s research needs.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a collection development strategy for legal resources.
• Source, negotiate, and manage subscriptions to statutes, law reports, journals, textbooks, and online legal databases.
• Track inventory, catalog and classify materials using standard library systems, and maintain the physical collection.
• Provide legal research support to lawyers and staff using print and online sources.
• Create and update research guides to enable self‑service.
• Set and enforce library policies, handle lending, interlibrary loans, and day‑to‑day operations.
• Report on library usage and activity, and manage the library budget.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science.
• Valid registration with the Librarian Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN).
• Experience working in a law‑firm library or any library environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• A Master’s degree or other advanced qualification is a plus.

Required skills

• Familiarity with library management software.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to navigate legal research databases.
