Legal Counsel

About the role

We are looking for a highly motivated Legal Counsel to join our fast‑growing fintech team in Lagos. The role will involve providing commercial, regulatory and contractual advice to support our lending, savings and deposit products.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, negotiate and advise on a wide range of commercial agreements, including vendor, SaaS, banking partnership and consultancy contracts.
• Provide day‑to‑day legal support to product, operations, partnerships, compliance, risk and management teams.
• Support onboarding and management of vendors and third‑party service providers.
• Review customer‑facing terms, policies and legal notices, and advise on digital banking and fintech regulatory issues.
• Assist with dispute management, debt recovery, regulatory inquiries and pre‑litigation matters.
• Identify, assess and mitigate legal and operational risks across the business.
• Coordinate with external solicitors and regulatory bodies as needed.
• Support internal compliance, corporate governance and data‑protection initiatives.
• Maintain legal documentation, contract repositories, renewal schedules and intellectual property records.

Required profile

• LL.B and B.L qualifications from a recognized institution.
• Called to the Nigerian Bar between 2019 and 2021.
• Relevant experience in fintech, banking, technology‑driven businesses or commercial law firms with strong exposure to financial services.
