Land Surveyor

About the role

Homan Engineering, a Nigerian contracting company delivering civil, electrical and mechanical engineering services, is hiring a full-time, on-site Land Surveyor in Ibadan. The surveyor carries out field surveys of land features, boundaries and topography and provides technical input to civil and construction projects.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct field surveys measuring land features, boundaries and topography with appropriate surveying instruments and tools
• Collect and analyse survey data, and prepare accurate maps, plans and reports
• Work with project engineers and site teams to set out construction works and verify levels and coordinates
• Ensure compliance with design specifications
• Maintain survey equipment, follow safety procedures and keep organised records of all survey activities

Required profile

• A relevant diploma or degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering or a related field is preferred, along with prior experience in land or construction surveying
• Familiarity with local regulations, standards and land administration processes in Nigeria, and a commitment to safety and ethical practices, are beneficial

Required skills

• Total stations, GPS/GNSS equipment, levels and other standard land surveying instruments
• Survey data collection and analysis, mapping and preparation of survey drawings
• CAD or related software tools
• Civil engineering and construction knowledge, including site layout, boundary demarcation, topographic surveys and alignment setting
• Documentation and reporting, including field notes and project records
• Attention to detail, numerical accuracy and problem-solving with measurements and coordinates
• Communication and teamwork with engineers, site supervisors and stakeholders
