About the role
We are seeking an Instrument Maintenance Technician to join our team in Lagos. The role focuses on maintaining and troubleshooting instrument and control systems within our mining and energy operations, ensuring safety, compliance and reliability.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, update and oversee all activities in line with laws, regulations, standards, specifications and procedures, with a strong emphasis on health, safety and the environment.
- Support and encourage teamwork between operations, engineering and project groups.
- Provide input and review control specifications and work practices.
- Be accountable for control systems as defined in the Work Management Manual.
- Apply and follow the Permit To Work System (PTWS) as required.
- Ensure quality and timely completion of work scheduled by the Maintenance Program.
- Develop personal and team technical skills, including new regulations, equipment and methods.
- Attend and, when needed, lead technical meetings to keep instrument technicians informed of the latest specifications, codes, procedures and technology.
- Support work prioritisation to maximise effectiveness and complement other work groups.
- Provide technical support to other technicians for maintenance and troubleshooting of the company’s instrument systems.
- Generate Management of Change (MOC) requests for control‑related equipment and follow up with installation inspections.
- Construct, monitor and inspect new installations for consistency with mission requirements and recommend upgrades as necessary.
- Act as a stand‑in for the Instrument Lead position when required.
Required profile
- Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent high‑school education, preferably complemented by technical school courses.
- Experience maintaining instruments and controls in a processing plant or offshore production plant.
- Familiarity with regulations applicable to oil and gas facilities.
- Knowledge of oil systems, related manuals and procedures.
- Completion of safety, administrative and technical training as documented in the company’s operations‑approved training roadmap.
- Demonstrated competencies in operations integrity and safety.
- Good communication, organisational, reporting and attention‑to‑detail skills.
- Strong troubleshooting and analysis abilities.
