Generator Operator

About the role

The Generator Operator is responsible for the reliable operation of the hotel's UPS generators and public utility supply. Working within the Engineering team, you will ensure continuous power availability and support other engineering functions as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, maintain, repair and execute preventive maintenance on UPS generators and related equipment.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, including seal replacement, pump repacking, bearing and belt changes, alignment checks, fan coil repairs, brazing, soldering and control calibration.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities and repairs.
• Visually inspect gauges, dials and mechanical components, conduct basic calculations and work on uneven surfaces.
• Assist the Operating Engineer with start‑up, shut‑down and overall operation of generator systems.

Required profile

• Minimum HND or BSc in a relevant engineering field.
• At least two years of experience with UPS generators or similar equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and basic electrical knowledge.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Basic English communication skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of UPS generator repair and preventive maintenance.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools (drills, hoisting equipment, reciprocating saw, pressure washing equipment).
• Use of dial indicators and testing equipment for air, water balancing and control calibration.
• Basic mechanical aptitude for operation and repair of hotel equipment.
• Basic English language communication.
