General Manager - Supply Chain (Pharmaceuticals), West Africa

About the role

A leading pharmaceutical organization in West Africa is looking for an experienced General Manager - Supply Chain to report to the CEO / Managing Director. The role covers end-to-end supply chain operations, including procurement, import/export logistics, inventory, warehousing, distribution, demand planning and supplier management, to ensure uninterrupted product availability across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement supply chain strategies and lead procurement, demand planning, inventory, warehousing, transportation and distribution
• Lead strategic sourcing and procurement of raw materials, APIs, packaging and finished products, negotiate contracts and evaluate supplier performance
• Manage import-export operations, freight forwarding, shipping lines and customs clearance, ensuring compliance with trade and pharmaceutical import regulations
• Control inventory, monitor forecasting accuracy and stock rotation, and ensure adherence to GDP and pharmaceutical storage requirements
• Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical regulatory, quality and statutory requirements
• Lead, mentor and develop supply chain, procurement, logistics and warehouse teams, set KPIs and manage supply chain budgets

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, Business Administration, Pharmacy, Engineering or a related field; MBA or Master's in Supply Chain Management preferred
• Professional certifications such as CIPS, CSCP, CPSM or APICS are an advantage
• 12-18+ years of progressive experience in supply chain within the pharmaceutical industry
• At least 5 years in a senior leadership role managing large-scale supply chain operations
• Experience across African markets and with multinational pharmaceutical companies is highly preferred
