Credit Officer

About the role

A Credit Officer position is open in Abuja and Lagos on a full-time basis. The role combines business development and credit management: generating leads and new business in loans and investments, assessing client creditworthiness and overseeing the loan portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop new business opportunities to increase revenue and market share, including new markets, customers, partnerships, products and services.
• Generate leads and bring in businesses for loans and investment.
• Implement the company's business development and marketing strategies.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners and stakeholders.
• Assess the creditworthiness of potential clients and recommend credit facilities.
• Prepare and deliver business proposals to attract new clients.
• Monitor accounts under management and ensure sound credit judgment to keep non-performing loans to a minimum.
• Oversee the loan portfolio to ensure timely repayments and minimal defaults.

Required profile

• HND or BSc degree in Marketing, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in business development and credit management in the financial services sector.
• Proven track record of achieving business development targets.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of credit analysis, risk assessment and financial products.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• Analytical mindset with data-driven decision-making.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
