Compliance Officer – Dual UK & Nigeria Regulatory

About the role

Lightway Group, a diversified financial entity operating a micro‑finance bank and a cross‑border remittance business, is seeking a Compliance Officer in Lagos. The role supports the compliance framework across both UK and Nigerian jurisdictions, ensuring adherence to FCA and CBN regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update compliance policies in line with UK Money Laundering Regulations 2017, POCA 2002, FCA rules and Nigerian CBN AML/CFT regulations.
• Operate the AML/CTF framework, conducting customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence and ongoing monitoring for individuals and institutions.
• Perform sanctions and PEP screening using OFAC, UN, EU, OFSI and Nigerian sanctions lists, escalating high‑risk cases to the MLRO.
• Review and investigate transaction monitoring alerts, prepare and submit SARs to the UK NCA and STRs/CTRs to the Nigerian FIU.
• Support preparation for regulatory inspections and audits by the FCA and CBN/NFIU.
• Collaborate with business leaders to embed a strong compliance culture throughout the organisation.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a regulated financial services environment, preferably within payments, remittance or fintech.
• Working knowledge of both FCA and CBN regulatory frameworks.
• Strong analytical and investigative abilities with attention to detail.
