General Manager – Banking (Lagos)

About the role

The General Manager will lead the bank’s growth strategy, driving business development, balance‑sheet expansion and digital‑finance innovation. Reporting to the Board, the role combines strategic foresight with hands‑on execution to strengthen market relevance and operational performance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies to grow deposits, credit portfolio and customer base.
• Champion fintech‑enabled lending and payroll‑based credit models for SMEs and salaried clients.
• Identify and execute new business opportunities, partnerships and alliances.
• Oversee product innovation, marketing and customer‑engagement initiatives.
• Provide leadership across Credit, Operations, Finance, Risk, HR and Marketing.
• Strengthen governance, risk management and internal‑control frameworks in line with CBN and NDIC standards.
• Drive operational excellence through digital transformation and process efficiency.
• Build, mentor and motivate a high‑performing team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Banking & Finance, Economics, Marketing or related field; Master’s/MBA preferred.
• Membership of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.
• 12–18 years of progressive financial services experience, including at least 5 years in senior leadership.
• Proven track record in business development, market expansion and balance‑sheet growth.
• Experience with fintech‑driven lending, digital product innovation or partnership‑led distribution.
• Strong knowledge of microfinance operations, credit management and regulatory frameworks.
• High integrity, maturity and ability to engage the Board and inspire teams.
