About the role
The Vice Chancellor is the chief executive and academic head of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, responsible for overall strategic direction, governance and academic excellence.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as ex‑officio Chairman of the Senate and a key member of the Governing Council.
- Implement policies, manage finances, supervise university property and facilities.
- Oversee academic programmes, maintain standards and ensure student discipline.
- Provide visionary leadership to enhance the university’s global standing.
Required profile
- Professor with at least nine (9) years at that rank in a recognized university.
- PhD (or equivalent) and a strong record of research, publications and academic leadership.
- Not older than 65 years at the time of appointment and able to serve a full five‑year term.
- Demonstrated integrity, proven administrative competence and ability to unite diverse stakeholders.
