Upholsterer – Furniture Production

About the role

The Upholsterer will join our furniture manufacturing team in Lagos, Marina, producing high‑quality upholstered pieces for a range of customers. You will work hands‑on with fabrics, leather, foam and other materials to build and finish furniture according to detailed specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Read and interpret production orders, drawings and product specifications.
• Measure, cut and prepare upholstery materials such as fabric, leather, foam and padding.
• Assemble furniture components, install webbing, springs, foam and padding, and apply upholstery coverings.
• Stretch, fit and secure materials using hand and power tools while maintaining quality standards.
• Inspect finished pieces for defects, rework or repair as needed.
• Minimize material waste and ensure consistent workmanship.
• Operate and maintain upholstery tools and machinery safely.
• Keep the work area clean and comply with health‑and‑safety regulations.
• Meet daily and weekly production targets and collaborate with supervisors and team members.

Required profile

• Minimum Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or equivalent.
• Vocational training or certification in upholstery, furniture making or a related trade (preferred).
• At least 2 years of experience as an upholsterer in a furniture manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of upholstery techniques, materials and furniture construction.
• Ability to measure, cut and fit materials accurately.
• Good manual dexterity, attention to detail and problem‑solving ability.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.

Required skills

• Use of upholstery hand tools (staple guns, knives, hammers, etc.).
• Operation of upholstery machinery (cutting tables, sewing machines, foam cutters).
• Fabric measurement and cutting techniques.
• Foam, padding and spring installation.
