Technical Officer

About the role

The Technical Officer will work closely with the State Team Lead, Technical Director, and project partners to ensure high‑quality malaria case‑management and Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) interventions in public and private health facilities across the assigned state and its LGAs. The role provides direct technical support to state malaria programmes, supervises SMC activities, and contributes to the achievement of Global Fund grant objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with MSH state‑based specialists (M&E and SCMS) to implement case‑management activities in line with national malaria strategies.
• Plan, coordinate and supervise training for health workers and Integrated Monitoring and Supportive Supervision (iMSV) visits.
• Support state MoH in the full cycle of SMC implementation, including personnel selection, monthly drug distribution, and supervision of consultants and field officers.
• Prepare monthly end‑of‑cycle reports and a comprehensive narrative report for each SMC round.
• Assist the state MoH with Intermittent Preventive Therapy for pregnant women (IPTp) and routine LLIN distribution for pregnant women and children under‑5.
• Represent MSH on malaria Technical Working Groups and other health coordination committees at the state level.
• Contribute to quarterly lessons‑identified reports and submit technical activity reports to the Technical Director, Malaria.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience supporting state malaria programmes or similar public‑health initiatives.
• Ability to coordinate training, supervision visits, and mass‑drug campaigns.
• Strong reporting and documentation skills.
• Willingness to travel frequently to health facilities and LGAs.
