State Project Lead – Immunization Program

About the role

The State Project Lead will provide strategic, technical and operational leadership for the GAVI immunization project in Kaduna State. This senior position ensures alignment with donor and national priorities while driving evidence‑based interventions to increase vaccine coverage.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute work plans for routine immunization strengthening, zero‑dose reduction, outreach services and cold‑chain logistics.
• Lead supportive supervision, quality improvement, data quality assurance and community engagement activities.
• Serve as the primary liaison with government agencies, donors, partners and community stakeholders.
• Oversee monitoring, evaluation, reporting, performance reviews and documentation of lessons learned.
• Manage project budgets, compliance, risk mitigation and administrative accountability.
• Provide mentorship, performance management and capacity‑building for project staff.
• Prepare high‑quality reports, presentations and strategic updates for donors and partners.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (MBBS, MPH, MSc) in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Policy, Health Management or related field.
• 8–10 years progressive experience in public health programming, preferably immunization or donor‑funded projects.
• At least 5 years in senior leadership or managerial roles overseeing large‑scale health programs.
• Demonstrated experience with GAVI, Global Fund, USAID, UNICEF, WHO or similar donors.
• Strong understanding of Nigeria’s immunization landscape and primary health care systems.
• Proven ability to work with government institutions and development partners at state and national levels.
