Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

A leading MEP contractor in Nigeria is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to drive HVAC design, MEP BIM coordination and the technical delivery of mechanical building services projects from concept through construction and handover. The role involves working on diverse sectors such as commercial, industrial, healthcare, hospitality and mixed‑use developments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead full HVAC design, including chilled water, VRF/VRV, AHU/FAHU/FCU, smoke management and ventilation systems, with load calculations and equipment sizing.
• Design plumbing (domestic water, drainage) and fire protection systems compliant with NFPA standards.
• Develop and coordinate BIM models (Revit MEP, LOD 200‑400) and run clash detection using Navisworks.
• Prepare tender, IFC, shop, as‑built documentation, BOQs and technical specifications.
• Coordinate with project managers, consultants and clients while mentoring junior engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Valid COREN registration (mandatory).
• Minimum 10 years of experience with a leading MEP contractor.
• Strong knowledge of ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, IPC/UPC and CIBSE standards.
