Senior Compliance Officer (ACAMS Required)

About the role

The Senior Compliance Officer will lead the design, implementation and oversight of the organisation’s compliance framework across multiple business units, ensuring all operations, transactions and strategic initiatives meet applicable laws, regulations and internal policies. The role reports to senior management and acts as a trusted advisor to the Board on regulatory obligations and risk exposure.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and continuously improve enterprise‑wide compliance programmes for all business lines.
• Monitor regulatory developments and update frameworks to align with evolving laws and industry standards.
• Serve as primary point of contact with regulators, managing communications, reviews and examinations.
• Identify, assess and mitigate compliance and regulatory risks; conduct regular risk assessments, audits and gap analyses.
• Develop, review and enforce compliance policies, procedures and internal controls.
• Lead compliance training and awareness programmes for employees and management.
• Prepare periodic compliance reports for senior management and the Board and maintain comprehensive documentation of activities and remediation actions.
• Oversee internal investigations of compliance breaches and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Provide ongoing advisory support to executive leadership and business teams, communicating regulatory expectations across the organisation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline.
• ACAMS certification (mandatory).
• Minimum 7 years of experience in compliance, risk management or regulatory roles, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.
