Senior Carpenter

About the role

Lumbercraft Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Carpenter to lead the production, fabrication, and installation of high‑quality custom furniture and joinery. You will manage a team of carpenters and apprentices, ensuring projects meet design specifications, deadlines, and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead fabrication and assembly of cabinets, wardrobes, kitchen units, office furniture, doors, and custom pieces.
• Interpret technical drawings, shop drawings, specifications, and cutting lists.
• Plan work sequences, allocate tasks, and supervise daily activities of carpenters, machine operators, and apprentices.
• Conduct site measurements, coordinate installations, and resolve technical issues on‑site.
• Perform quality inspections, approve completed work, and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure safe operation and maintenance of CNC machines, panel saws, edge banders, planers, thicknessers, routers, drilling machines, and sanding equipment.
• Enforce health, safety, and housekeeping standards and report incidents promptly.
• Identify process improvements and support lean manufacturing initiatives.

Required profile

• Minimum 60 months of relevant carpentry experience, preferably in a senior or supervisory role.
• Proven ability to lead teams, coach junior staff, and manage workflow.
• Strong understanding of quality assurance, health & safety regulations, and lean manufacturing principles.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to communicate with customers and consultants.
