Safety Officer – Construction Site

About the role

The Safety Officer will be responsible for maintaining a safe working environment on construction sites in Lagos. You will work closely with site teams to ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental (HSE) standards and to promote a culture of safety.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular site safety inspections and identify potential hazards.
• Ensure adherence to HSE policies, construction standards and local safety regulations.
• Monitor workers, enforce safe work practices, and provide on‑site guidance.
• Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings and basic safety training to staff.
• Investigate incidents, prepare detailed safety reports and maintain accurate documentation.

Required profile

• Minimum HND in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety or a related field.
• Proven experience working on construction sites.
• Good knowledge of construction safety practices and HSE regulations.
• Relevant HSE certifications are an advantage.
• Strong communication, observation and reporting abilities.
• Proactive, safety‑conscious and able to work effectively on‑site.
