About the role
The Nutrition Nurse is responsible for managing acute malnutrition in children within a stabilization centre, providing therapeutic feeding, medical treatment, and counseling in line with national and international guidelines.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive medical examinations, monitor vital signs, and administer medicines according to protocols.
- Prepare and provide therapeutic feeds and medicines for severely malnourished children.
- Monitor daily nutritional status and maintain accurate medical and nutrition records.
- Provide nutrition counseling and health education to mothers and caretakers.
- Ensure adequate drug and nutrition supply, report stock levels, and compile statistical data for reporting.
- Collaborate with the SC Doctor and Nutrition Manager on operational issues and ensure proper handover of duties.
Required profile
- Registered Nurse with a nursing degree from a recognized institute.
- At least two years of experience in CMAM and IYCF programmes.
- Valid and current practicing license.
- Fluent in written and spoken English and the required national/local language.
- Commitment to the organization’s aims, values and principles.
Required skills
- Proficiency in computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, email, and internet use.
- Strong report‑writing abilities.
