Library & Information Science Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Library & Information Science Specialist to manage and enhance the digital research and learning platforms of Iwemi. The role involves cataloguing academic content, ensuring metadata quality, and supporting outreach activities across our Lagos office.

Key responsibilities

• Catalogue, classify, and create metadata for research papers, theses, textbooks and course materials using Dewey Decimal, LC Classification and digital metadata schemas.
• Conduct quality assurance checks on submissions, verifying formatting, bibliographic completeness and compliance with academic integrity standards.
• Manage the content review pipeline on iwemiresearch.org to ensure timely upload, review and publication.
• Support cataloguing and structuring of courses and reading materials on iwemischool.com, maintaining an organized digital resource centre.
• Maintain accurate book listings on iwemi.com, including ISBN records, subject classifications, author details and SEO‑optimised descriptions.
• Represent Iwemi at virtual and in‑person meetings, campus events, webinars and the INARIC 2026 national campus activation campaign.
• Utilise AI tools, including the Iwemi Research Writer, to assist with content development, metadata generation and academic quality improvement.
• Produce short written content and social media updates to communicate platform value to academic audiences.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Library Science, Information Science or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar library or information management role.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work within agreed turnaround times.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AI tools for content and metadata generation.
• Knowledge of metadata schemas and classification systems (Dewey Decimal, LC).
• Experience with SEO‑optimised content creation.
