Legal Officer – Property & Litigation Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a qualified Legal Officer to lead property transactions, conduct thorough due diligence, and represent clients in civil and property litigation. The role involves close interaction with government agencies, courts, and clients to ensure compliant and efficient legal services.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate sale agreements, lease agreements, deeds of assignment and tenancy agreements.
• Conduct title searches and due diligence to verify ownership, encumbrances and authenticity of land documents.
• Advise clients on land acquisition, registration and title perfection under the Land Use Act and relevant state laws.
• Prepare and process Governor's Consent, Certificate of Occupancy and other statutory documents.
• Manage property transactions from negotiation to completion, ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Liaise with Land Registry, Survey Department and other government bodies on behalf of clients.
• Represent clients in Magistrate Courts, High Courts and appellate courts, drafting and filing court processes.
• Conduct legal research, prepare opinions, memoranda and case strategies.
• Handle civil disputes, debt recovery, breach of contract and property‑related litigation, advising on negotiation, mediation and arbitration.
• Monitor case progress, attend hearings and maintain accurate case files.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognised and accredited university.
• Sound and demonstrable judgment of law across relevant practice areas.
