Legal Officer

About the role

We are seeking a Legal Officer to support the legal and compliance function at Sohcahtoa Holdings. The successful candidate will provide legal advice, manage contracts, and ensure regulatory compliance across all business units.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the group‑wide HR strategy in alignment with overall business objectives and long‑term growth plans.
• Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on HR matters, organisational design, workforce planning, and talent strategy.
• Oversee end‑to‑end recruitment processes for senior, leadership, and critical roles across the group.
• Design and implement group‑wide talent management frameworks, including succession planning, career pathing, and leadership development.
• Design, implement, and manage performance management systems that drive accountability, high performance, and continuous improvement.
• Develop and oversee competitive and compliant compensation and benefits structures aligned with market benchmarks.
• Identify group‑wide learning and development needs and implement training programmes that build capability and support career growth.
• Champion a positive, inclusive, ethical, and values‑driven workplace culture across all group entities.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from an accredited institution.
• Call to the Nigerian Bar is mandatory.
• Membership of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) is required.
• Additional certifications in corporate law, compliance, or related areas are an advantage.
• Strong competence in drafting and reviewing legal documents with high attention to detail.
• Proficiency in legal research and analytical reasoning using multiple legal resources.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for clear, concise, and effective legal advice.
