Legal Manager

About the role

The Legal Manager will provide strong legal leadership and oversight, ensuring the business operates in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. This role is responsible for identifying, managing, and mitigating legal risk while delivering sound advice on transactions and products. The manager will also support the organization’s commitment to high standards of ethics, governance, and regulatory conduct.

Key responsibilities

• Provide timely, accurate, and pragmatic legal advice on transactions, products, and operational matters.
• Ensure compliance with company law, securities regulation, AML, CFT, sanctions and other applicable regulations.
• Identify, assess and manage legal risks at country and business level, preparing risk reports and mitigation strategies.
• Support implementation of group legal and risk policies and collaborate with risk and compliance functions.
• Engage with regulators and internal governance forums to promote transparency and ethical conduct.
• Deliver legal support for transactions and product initiatives, ensuring appropriate controls and turnaround times.
• Manage external counsel relationships, negotiate fees and drive cost discipline.
• Lead the internal legal team, develop training plans and foster a collaborative risk‑aware culture.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in a legal role, preferably within financial services, banking or a regulated environment.
• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent legal qualification.
• Proven ability to provide strategic legal advice and manage complex regulatory matters.
