Import and Export Specialist

About the role

The Import and Export Specialist manages and coordinates all international trade operations, ensuring that inbound imports and outbound shipments move efficiently and comply with all regulatory requirements. This role acts as a central hub between suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, warehouses, and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate inbound import and outbound export shipments, overseeing transportation and documentation.
• Prepare accurate customs and trade documentation in line with Nigerian regulations.
• Maintain compliance with international trade laws, customs regulations, and company policies.
• Collaborate with suppliers, freight forwarders, shipping agents, customs brokers, and internal departments to ensure timely movement of goods.
• Maintain detailed records of all trade activities and minimize logistics risks.
• Identify opportunities to fast‑track cycle times and improve process efficiency.

Required profile

• HND or Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration or a related field; Master’s degree is an advantage.
• Partial or full membership of a professional body such as CILSCM.
• Minimum of 5 years proven experience in import and export operations.
• Demonstrated alignment with core ECOM values: Integrity, Innovation, Inclusivity, Excellence, Collaboration.
• Knowledge of handling agro‑chemicals and agro‑commodities.
• In‑depth understanding of Nigeria’s import and export documentation processes.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
• Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint.
• Detailed knowledge of Nigeria import/export documentation and procedures.
• Strong understanding of import/export processes and transportation regulations.
