Director of Schools – Edo, Nigeria

About the role

The Director of Schools is accountable for the performance of every school within the Edo territory, overseeing school management, academic programming, staff development, regulatory compliance, financial sustainability, and stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the success of schools by achieving excellence in school‑management metrics, meeting ambitious learning‑outcome targets, and fostering community and parent engagement.
• Ensure School Supervisors meet their KPIs, maintain high‑performing teaching teams, operate within budget, and sustain enrollment.
• Manage reporting lines with Regional Managers, Learning & Development and Academic managers.
• Use data from multiple sources to guarantee robust, compliant, and context‑appropriate academic programming and safe learning environments.
• Spend approximately 20 % of time in schools observing teaching, management, and engaging government officials, parents and community groups.
• Support school events such as openings, parent‑teacher conferences, and community showcases.
• Oversee regulatory compliance, exam preparation, leadership development sessions and professional development for supervisors.
• Supervise school budgets, prevent fraud and ensure financial discipline.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing field‑based teams.
• Strong belief in data‑driven decision making.
• School‑management experience (preferred).
• Relentless focus on achievement and bias towards action.
• Flexible, collaborative leader with excellent relationship‑building, interpersonal and communication skills.
• B.Sc or M.A. in Education preferred.
• Detail‑oriented, organized and able to multi‑task in dynamic, low‑resource environments.
