Chief Operating Officer

About the role

The Chief Operating Officer will lead day‑to‑day operations, execute the board‑approved strategic plan and drive sustainable revenue growth across retail, corporate, franchise and e‑commerce channels.

Key responsibilities

• Lead overall business operations, delivering annual financial and business targets.
• Oversee nationwide retail operations, improve store productivity, customer experience and profitability.
• Drive commercial growth by expanding retail, corporate sales, franchise and e‑commerce businesses and forging strategic partnerships with global technology brands.
• Accelerate digital transformation, enhancing ERP, CRM, business intelligence and data‑analytics capabilities.
• Build a high‑performance culture, recruit and develop top talent, and implement merit‑based performance management.
• Improve operational efficiency, cost management, inventory, logistics and supply‑chain performance while strengthening governance and risk management.
• Develop and execute West African expansion strategy, evaluating new markets and investment opportunities.
• Work closely with the Founder, Board and Executive Leadership Team to institutionalise systems that reduce founder dependency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline; MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification preferred.
• Minimum five years’ experience in a senior executive leadership role such as COO, CEO, Managing Director, Business Director or Country Manager.
• Proven success leading large multi‑site retail, consumer‑goods, telecommunications, technology or FMCG organisations.
• Strong commercial, financial, operational and digital‑transformation expertise.
• Experience managing organisations with over 500 employees.
• Strategic thinking, commercial acumen and operational excellence.
