About the role
The CFO & Head of Strategy is a key member of the Executive Management Team, responsible for providing strategic financial leadership and driving the bank’s transformation into a digitally led microfinance institution. The role combines financial stewardship – ensuring strong financial performance, compliance, and risk management – with strategic leadership – defining and executing the bank’s digital and growth strategy in line with regulatory guidelines and financial inclusion objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Drive the bank’s digital transformation agenda, including digital lending, mobile banking, agent banking, and partnerships with fintech and payment service providers.
- Identify new business opportunities, market segments, and partnerships that support scalable and sustainable growth.
- Manage the full finance function: budgeting, IFRS reporting, treasury, capital, and cost control.
- Lead capital‑raising initiatives and stakeholder partnerships with investors, DFIs, and fintechs.
- Ensure risk, compliance, and internal controls across traditional and digital channels.
- Own product economics, pricing, and partnership structuring.
- Assist in defining pricing and fee structures aligned with customer value, competition, and regulatory guidelines.
- Build and lead a high‑performing Finance & Strategy team, overseeing planning, performance management, coaching, and succession planning.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree plus ICAN/ACCA qualification (mandatory); MBA or Master’s preferred.
- 10–15 years of experience, with at least 5 years in senior finance/strategy leadership within microfinance, banking, or fintech.
- Deep knowledge of IFRS, CBN guidelines, and Nigerian regulatory environment.
- Proven experience in financial management and reporting for a regulated financial institution.
- Strong strategic planning and execution capabilities, including managing regulatory relationships (CBN, NDIC, etc.).
- Excellent stakeholder management, integrity, change‑driven mindset, and customer focus.
