Backend Engineer

About the role

Join Sohcahtoa Holdings as a Backend Engineer and help power our digital infrastructure. You will design, build, and maintain scalable APIs and data pipelines that support our growing financial services business.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Node.js, TypeScript, Express, and NestJS.
• Build microservices‑based architectures with clear service boundaries and ownership.
• Translate business and functional requirements into clean, maintainable, and testable code.
• Develop and document RESTful APIs and GraphQL endpoints, ensuring proper versioning.
• Apply SOLID principles, clean architecture, and design patterns for large‑scale financial systems.
• Design and manage relational database schemas in MySQL and PostgreSQL, using TypeORM for data modeling and migrations.
• Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms (JWT, OAuth2, RBAC) and enforce data encryption in transit and at rest.
• Containerize services with Docker and support deployments via Kubernetes.
• Implement caching strategies using Redis and integrate event‑driven systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in fintech, banking, payments, insurance, or other regulated industries is a strong advantage.
• Professional certifications in relevant technologies are a plus.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.
