Accountant – Full-time, Lagos

About the role

The Accountant will join OmeFreight’s finance team in Lagos, handling day-to-day financial operations for a fast-growing logistics provider. This full-time, on-site position supports the company’s shipping and supply-chain activities through accurate bookkeeping and financial analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review invoices, record transactions, and maintain the general ledger.
• Reconcile bank statements and ledger accounts on a regular basis.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and financial statements.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow monitoring.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and internal financial controls.
• Produce financial reports and cost analyses to aid management decisions.
• Collaborate with operations, sales, and management teams to maintain financial accuracy.

Required profile

• Demonstrated proficiency in core accounting tasks such as bookkeeping, reconciliation, and reporting.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, and compliance standards, especially in logistics or trade.
• Experience with accounting/ERP software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Ability to analyse financial data, prepare budgets, and monitor cash flow.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet multiple deadlines.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certifications (ACA, ACCA) are a plus.
