Account Officer

About the role

The Account Officer will support the finance team by maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. This full-time position is based in Lagos (Marina) and offers exposure to banking and finance operations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain financial records and accounting entries.
• Process invoices, payments, receipts, and journal entries.
• Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts.
• Produce daily, weekly and monthly financial reports.
• Assist in budget preparation and financial forecasting.
• Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Post all financial transactions promptly in the accounting system.
• Maintain documentation and filing of accounting records.
• Support statutory remittances, audits and tax compliance.
• Participate in month‑end and year‑end closing activities.
• Ensure adherence to accounting standards, company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Perform other accounting duties as assigned by management.

Required profile

• Minimum HND in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
• Professional certification such as ACA, ACCA or ICAN ATS is an advantage.
• 1–4 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Experience posting transactions using accounting software or ERP systems.
• Previous experience in a finance company or financial institution is a plus.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Tally or similar ERP systems).
• Excellent numerical and analytical abilities with high attention to detail.
