WASH Specialist (NO-3) – Temporary (364 days) – Nigeria

About the role

The WASH Specialist will support UNICEF Nigeria in designing, implementing and evaluating water, sanitation and hygiene programmes across multiple states. Reporting to the Chief of WASH, the role is a 364‑day temporary appointment focused on strengthening programme theory, results frameworks and evidence‑based monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage WASH programme plans, budgets and workplans.
• Provide technical guidance to government partners, NGOs and implementing agencies.
• Conduct situation, bottleneck and results‑based analyses to inform programme adjustments.
• Prepare donor proposals, annual reports and strategic documentation.
• Monitor programme outputs, indicators and verification mechanisms, ensuring data quality.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree in public health, environmental engineering, or related field.
• Experience working in WASH programmes within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Ability to work collaboratively with UNICEF staff, government counterparts and partners.

Required skills

• WASH technical expertise (water supply, sanitation, hygiene promotion).
• Program design and results‑framework development.
• Monitoring, evaluation and data analysis.
• Donor proposal writing and reporting.
