Volunteer Human Resources Manager

About the role

The Zurfte Empowercare Foundation is seeking a dedicated Volunteer Human Resources Manager to lead and improve HR processes for its volunteers and staff. Based in Lagos State, this full‑time onsite role supports the organization’s mission of empowering youth and underserved communities.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and retention initiatives.
• Maintain accurate personnel and volunteer records.
• Develop, implement, and update HR policies and procedures ensuring compliance with Nigerian labor standards.
• Support performance management, feedback mechanisms, and learning‑development opportunities.
• Handle day‑to‑day HR inquiries and promote an inclusive, collaborative work environment.
• Collaborate with leadership and program teams to align HR practices with strategic goals.

Required profile

• Experience with core HR functions such as recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee/volunteer relations.
• Proven ability to develop HR policies with attention to compliance and ethical standards.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict‑resolution abilities.
• Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records.
• Commitment to nonprofit work, youth development, or community empowerment; experience in volunteer‑based settings is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Understanding of HR practices and basic labor guidelines within the Nigerian context.
• Willingness to work onsite full‑time in Lagos and thrive in a multicultural, mission‑driven environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with HR information systems (HRIS).
• Advanced use of spreadsheets for data management.
