Transport Dispatch Team Lead (Full Time)

About the role

The Transport Dispatch Team Lead oversees daily dispatch operations for Jumia, using its logistics systems to optimise routing, fleet efficiency and delivery performance. The role works closely with warehouse, driver and customer service teams to ensure smooth end‑to‑end operations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily dispatch activities, including vehicle allocation, route planning and load optimisation.
• Utilise Jumia’s Transport Management System (TMS) to create dynamic routes based on real‑time demand, traffic and SLAs.
• Publish daily capacity plans and coordinate pickup frequency with dispatch agents and 3PL partners.
• Manage co‑loader and fleet contractor relationships, negotiating competitive pricing.
• Own financial reconciliation for chargeable weight, packages and lost shipment cases.
• Track metrics such as on‑time delivery, fuel efficiency, vehicle utilisation and dispatch turnaround time, driving continuous improvement.
• Resolve escalations with warehouse teams, drivers, third‑party logistics partners and customer service.
• Identify bottlenecks in dispatch workflows and implement cost‑saving initiatives.
• Prepare weekly and monthly performance reports for senior management.

Required profile

• Experience in logistics, transportation or dispatch operations.
• Proficiency with Transport Management Systems, route optimisation software and basic Excel/data analysis tools.
• Strong team‑management skills and ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders.
• Data‑driven problem‑solving with experience in KPI tracking and process improvement.
• Understanding of supply‑chain operations, last‑mile delivery challenges and e‑commerce logistics.
• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations or related field preferred.
• Must hold NYSC certificate or a valid exemption letter and be based in Abuja.
