Technical Superintendent – Nigeria

About the role

Join Smit Lamnalco as a Technical Superintendent based in Nigeria, supporting AfrikDelta Marine Limited’s offshore fleet. You will be responsible for ensuring the technical reliability of vessels through effective maintenance, repair coordination and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and execute day‑to‑day preventive maintenance activities on assigned vessels.
• Supervise, coach and instruct chief engineers to align technical management with company expectations.
• Plan and oversee repairs, managing crew and subcontractors within budget and quality standards.
• Allocate and control costs related to repairs, dockings, damages and modifications.
• Guide onboard crew to meet company standards and specifications.
• Promote Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) awareness and lead by example.
• Interface with classification societies, flag states and other regulatory authorities to maintain vessel integrity.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of verifiable experience as a technical superintendent, port engineer or technical manager in a marine environment.
• Higher or secondary vocational education in mechanical engineering, naval architecture or an equivalent field.
• Previous experience as a chief engineer on offshore support vessels is preferred.
• Fluent command of spoken and written English.
