Technical Project Designer – Furniture & Joinery

About the role

Design Factory is seeking a motivated Technical Project Designer to bridge design, production, and client coordination for custom furniture, kitchens, wardrobes, and millwork. Based in Lagos, the role blends creative thinking with hands‑on technical execution, ensuring concepts become high‑quality products.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise directly with clients, interior designers, architects, and factory teams to capture project requirements, timelines, and approvals.
• Translate design concepts into detailed production drawings, specifications, and shop‑fabrication documents.
• Produce technical documentation for furniture, kitchens, wardrobes, lighting pieces, and custom millwork.
• Collaborate with factory staff and fabricators to guarantee accurate execution and resolve production issues.
• Attend site visits, take measurements, and support installations and project meetings as needed.
• Assist the Managing Director with project coordination, technical follow‑through, and documentation management.
• Review materials, finishes, hardware, and production methods for suitability and quality.

Required profile

• Background in Interior Design, Furniture Design, Industrial Design, Architecture, Product Design, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in furniture production, joinery, millwork, kitchens, wardrobes, or a factory‑based design environment.
• Strong understanding of technical detailing, production processes, and ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking skills.
