Technical Officer – Malaria Programs

About the role

The Technical Officer will work closely with MSH national and state officers to support the implementation of malaria case‑management activities, ensuring alignment with grant targets and national strategies. This role involves coordinating training, supervision, and mass‑drug campaigns across states and local government areas.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with MSH specialists (M&E, SCMS) to support SMEP/SMOH case‑management implementation.
• Plan and coordinate training for health workers and Integrated Monitoring and Supportive Supervision (iMSV) activities.
• Assist State Ministries of Health in seasonal malaria chemoprevention, mass drug administration for children under‑5, and IPTp improvement.
• Lead capacity‑building initiatives for State MoH personnel on malaria technical areas.
• Prepare and submit technical and service‑delivery activity reports to the Technical Director, Malaria.
• Represent MSH at malaria Technical Working Groups and other health coordination committees.
• Document lessons learned, best practices, and evidence for program learning and dissemination.

Required profile

• Medical degree (M.D/MBBS) with field experience in clinical or community‑based malaria prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
• Minimum 5 years post‑NYSC experience in public health, preferably in malaria programming.
• Experience providing technical assistance to partner organisations and leading large health campaigns.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, with ability to engage multiple stakeholders.
• Knowledge of Global Fund operating procedures is a plus.
