Structural Design Engineer

About the role

Kenex Konsults International is seeking a Structural Design Engineer to join its team in Port Harcourt. You will be responsible for creating safe and efficient structural solutions for a variety of building and infrastructure projects. The role involves close collaboration with architects, civil engineers, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Design structural systems for buildings, bridges, and other civil engineering projects using relevant codes and standards.
• Perform load analysis, structural calculations, and design of reinforced concrete, steel, timber, and masonry elements.
• Prepare detailed structural drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical reports.
• Review architectural drawings and provide structural recommendations.
• Conduct feasibility studies, structural assessments, and value‑engineering exercises.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, review shop drawings, and support construction activities on site.
• Inspect construction work to ensure compliance with approved designs and quality standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum two years of experience in structural design and engineering.
• Professional registration with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria is an advantage.
• Membership of the Nigerian Society of Engineers is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete, steel, timber, and foundation design.

Required skills

• Proficiency with structural design software such as ETABS, STAAD.Pro, SAFE, SAP2000, ProtaStructure, and Tekla Structural Designer.
• Competence in AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
